Green olive & cream colored ikat print scarf with black tassels.
Ikat is an ancient (5,000+ year) artisanal technique primarily in India and Indonesia. Ikat is done by marking off designs on long bundles of yarn, applying bands accordingly, then resist-dyeing sections of the yarns before weaving the fabric on a loom. The blurriness of ikat is indicative of the difficulty of aligning the threads to create the distinctive patterns. (YouTube it, it's really cool.)
Your purchase supports the current generation of expert ikat artisans.
Measurements: 22" wide by 75" long
Material: Lightweight 100% Indian cotton and non-toxic dyes.
Care: Machine wash cold & gentle and hang to dry for best results. As the scarf is 100% cotton, there will be a small shrinkage of about 5% if you put the piece in the dryer. The fabric is color-fast for the most part; it goes through a washing and curing process to keep the dyes from spreading. We recommend washing colors separate, however.
From: Designed in New Orleans for the US market and produced in India.
Note: Due to the handmade nature of these scarves, there may be a slight color variation or small anomalies that add to the natural beauty of these items.
