Lightweight and relaxed fit, certified organic, simple block printed jersey sweater. Perfect with jeans out-and-about, or with your comfy pants at home!
The ancient hand block printing technique (likely over 4,500 years old) utilizes hand-carved teak wood blocks that are dipped in dye and stamped by hand onto cotton or silk. This is a simple block print, but multiple colors would be applied separately with each its own block. So, a block print design with five different colors will require the use of five blocks, each intricately overlaid to create a seamless design showing the fine skill of the artisan.
Your purchase supports the current generation of expert hand block artisans in India.
Measurements: 26" to 27" length (depending on size) from high point of shoulder to hem.
Material: 100% GOTS certified organic Indian cotton, hand block printed with organic dyes.
Care: Machine wash cold & gentle and hang to dry for best results. As the piece is 100% cotton, there may be a small shrinkage of about 5% if you put the piece in the dryer. The fabric is color-fast for the most part; it goes through a washing and curing process to keep the dyes from spreading. We recommend washing colors separate, however.
Sizing: True-to-size. Please see sizing chart.
From: Designed in New Orleans for the US market and produced in India.
Note: Due to the handmade nature of these pieces, there may be a slight color variation or small anomalies that add to the natural beauty of these items.
